Looks like a lot was accomplished in the last meeting! Sorry I was not there. I have a quick question. I am thinking about sponsoring some of Friday night’s expenses. If I was to sponsor (through my Financial Advisory business) would it be noticeable that I did sponsor? Or are we looking for silent sponsors? Any other information around this issue would be great. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for considering sponsorship for the Friday Night event. We'd love to include sponsors in this event to help reduce the cost to attendees. Sponsors would receive recognition at the event via signage, program, on-site display, etc. If you'd like to talk more about sponsorship opportunities I'd be happy to have a more specific conversation with you. Please feel free to contact me via email to set something up...leah@ridgewayevents.com. Thanks!

GAC POLICY ON EVENT SPONSORSHIP: (this is a re-post from the "location" section since we now have an "events" section)...

Good news -- we can accept sponsorships but not as advertising. For instance, if Company ABC gave $1,000 to sponsor the 2002 Homecoming Luncheon, we could list "Sponsored by Company ABC" in the schedule and also on a sign at the event.

...If, like the individual who's already posted, you or your company might be willing to be an event sponsor, please contact Leah.

Hi everyone,

I checked with Dining Services on campus and it looks like the caf doesn't cater part of meals; just all of them. Here's what I received:

Gustavus policy is that we do not "mix" catered food with "outside" food. Health
Department laws make it almost impossible to manage such events. If we are catering an
event, we are required to monitor food temps, handling procedures, prep conditions and so
on for all the food being served. Because of this, we either need to cater the entire
event, or none of it.
The price of a entire BBQ send out, Hamburgers (sent cooked or raw for you to grill),
relish and dip, potato chips, brownies or cookies is $6.00 per person. Soda can be
brought in by you or included for $.65 per can. We can also add brats for $1.00 per
person.

Any thoughts?

Sarah W.

Hi All!

It's time to decide on the venue for the Friday Night Event.
Reminder: Cost Goal was $10 or less per person – appetizers provided/drinks additional

Here's what we know so far...

POSSIBLE VENUES
- Brit’s Pub: Not available, thanks for checking Brandon.
- Grandma’s Saloon & Grill: Space available - 1st floor, private until 9pm then open to the public, beer specials would start at 9pm, F&B minimum during private event $700.
- Kieran’s Irish Pub: Ellie please provide update.
- The Local: Waiting to hear back on F&B minimum. I will provide update ASAP.
- Market Bar-B-Que: Katherine please provide update.
- Pracna on Main: Space available – private, bar and patio would be public, F&B minimum $1,000
- Town Hall Brewery: Waiting to hear back on F&B minimum. I will provide update ASAP.

Let’s make a decision on the venue by this Friday, April 6th. Therefore, if everyone would please provide your comments ASAP it'd be great! Any questions let me know. Thanks!!!

In response to Sarah's findings...I suggest we just have the caf supply the $6 BBQ option for the tailgate on Sat. I think it is going to be a hassle to bring in grills, etc. Also, this will allow us to have the caf serve beer. Just my thoughts. Thanks!

I agree about the caf BBQ meals for $6...sounds reasonable.

Update on Market BBQ - too expensive/not conducive. It won't really fit what we're looking for. I'd suggest it for a later reunion (i.e 20 or 25 years when classmates may be willing to pay $50 a person for a sit-down, more formal meal).

Hi All!

Here are my remaining updates on the venue for our Friday night event!

- Kieran’s Irish Pub: Is booked by the class of 1987.

- The Local: Private space is available for a $500 rental fee and holds about 90 people. F&B minimum is $2,500. If we are interested in this location I might be able to negotiate the F&B minimum down.

- Town Hall Brewery: Private space holds about 100 people, F&B minimum approx $4,000. Will close down for private event, F&B minimum $15,000.

I believe we now have all of the information so let’s make a decision. Please provide your feedback ASAP.

Thanks!

My pic would be Grandma's or Pracna right now.

Is Grandma's still in the running (no pun intended with the marathon connection)? That sounds like a good venue.

I haven't been to Pracna, so I'm not sure of the layout/atmosphere.

Since The Local only holds 90 people & I have a feeling we'll have more than 90 show up, perhaps it won't work for us. Also, how likely do you think it would be to negotiate a lower F&B minimum, Leah?
